Report Whale Watching Violations & Entanglements
Your help is needed to prevent irresponsible and illegal tour operators from harassing the gentle giants of Banderas Bay. The information that you provide could help save the life of a whale.
WHALE WATCHING VIOLATIONS If you observe ANYONE (tour operators, fishing boats or private individuals) operating outside of the Official Mexican Regulations or tour operators that are operating whale watching tours without proper government permission, please immediately report the violation to PROFEPA Puerto Vallarta at 222-0703 or PROFEPA Nayarit at 214-3591. Boaters can contact the Navy Sector at 224-5783 or on radio channels 16 and 82.
Additionally, please e-mail your report and any photos that you have to the Forum and we’ll pass them on to the proper Mexican authorities. When requested, all reports will be treated as confidential.
The e-mail address to use for incident reporting is:
violations@puertovallartawhalewatching.com
Please include the following information in your e-mail:
- Date and time of the violation
- Name of vessel and license number, if available
- Photographs are very helpful, when available
- A complete description of the violation
WHALE ENTANGLEMENTS If you observe a whale entangled in fishing nets or other such items, please report this immediately to the Navy Sector at 224-5783 or on radio channels 16 and 82. DO NOT attempt to assist the animal on your own as this is very dangerous. Keep at least 300 yards away and wait for the professional rescue team to arrive.
Your help and diligence is invaluable in helping to protect the whales of Puerto Vallarta. Thank you.
